For hearing-impaired people such as myself, the ability to read someone’s lips is essential for everyday communication. With everybody wearing masks, it is almost impossible to communicate my thoughts and comprehend others' thoughts. As a result, I’ve had to rely on my two sons to relay the message and be my voice. I remember thinking, I need to get my life back, and there must be a way.
Then, by luck, I became aware of a young college student in Louisville named Ashley Lawrence who started making see-through masks from home. I was able to reach out to her by email, and she was finding enough to share with me her modifications and ingredients on how to make these masks. This sparked new hope within me and, I immediately gathered my neighbors and good friends to start making these see-through masks from my dining room. I am extremely grateful to my dear friends who shared their sewing machines and donations towards materials. I want to name a few who have become proficient sewers... Donna Cartwright, Elizabeth King, and her mother, Karin Williams. So grateful for their relentless support and effort.

With the firepower behind my friends and I forging the way, I was able to get connected with an old friend and co-worker from our working days in the Cosmetic Dept at Nordstrom's in Pentagon City, Sarah Niyomsilpa from Thailand. She generously agreed to mass-produce and deliver our see-through masks, which has helped expand and fulfill my clients' needs. The fabric of our see-through masks is made in 100% cotton. They are equal parts stylish and comfortable and a great conversation starter!
